It was definitely a surprise. She opened it on the ground, leaning over. That's when the wind up butterflies became rabid and twisted up in her long hair. An extra set of hands and a pair of scissors later, she was detangled and the shock wore off. Didn't forsee this being a gag/prank gift. Guess I got a surprise out of it, too!
